Longform Letter was established in 2024 by Isaac Birkental and Ariella Soltren to address a growing need for hard-hitting journalism at Brandeis University.

Values

Longform Letter subscribes to the Code of Ethics authored by the Society of Professional Journalists. It is embedded below. Additionally, there is a policy prohibiting the use of undisclosed artificial intelligence. While this ban primarily targets AI writing, it also affects data compilation and review, because we do not believe there is a legitimate way to verify the veracity of AI output.
